A New Take on an Old Skool Way of Learning & Practicing Yoga:

The practice of Yoga was traditionally passed down from teacher to student. Student -- not plural. Individual. 1:1. Not 1:15 or 1:20 or 1:30. And over a long period of time. Not in one class or for one month or for one year. In this original approach, the dedicated, consistent practice over time, the teacher-student relationship was developed and the teacher grew his capacity to guide the student in a way that allowed him to continue to grow from where that student was, to address that student's specific needs, and to adapt the practice to suit the student.

More and more, I am seeing the intense drive for teachers everywhere to gain more students, teach to larger and larger numbers of people (often upwards of 100 students at a time), and make practices sound more exciting, bohemian, and fresh. But here's the thing, this yoga thing ain't anything new. It's been around for a long time and is quite simple. Anything that makes it seem otherwise is fleeting. And marketing. Yoga doesn't need marketing. The experience speaks for itself.

Sorry -- got a little sidetracked :)

So... where does this leave you + me? Well, for me, my teaching is shifting. What I will be offering is changing. My goal is to go deeper, hold space for more authentic and personal experiences, and teach students how to listen to me less and to themselves more. The quality and attention of 1:1 instruction but without the often cost-prohibitive nature.

Which means, for YOU, starting the week of September 19th, I am super excited to be offering more in-depth, powerful and meaningful opportunities for learning and growing by way of special, semi-private classes. These weekly classes will be limited to a maximum of 5 people per class.

Mondays, 9:45-10:45am - Gentle Yoga w/Yoga Nidra (All Levels)
Wednesdays, 5:45-6:45pm - Mindful Flow (Intermediate)
Thursdays, 9:15-10:15am - Mindful Flow (Intermediate)

In Her Words...

As many of you know, I have been providing life coaching to an inmate (Jennifer) at the Richmond City Jail.
I usually meet with clients 1x/week, often for 4-12 weeks, depending on what they're working on and how much support they need to make the desired change. Jenn knows that she will be transferred to prison soon, where she will serve the remaining two years of her sentence. She doesn't, however, know exactly when since inmates are notified at 4am on the day of their transfer. Because of this we have been accelerating her process and have been meeting twice weekly for the past 2 1/2 months.

Back in June, I asked Jenn if she would be willing to write a little about about her experience working with me. When I saw her at our next meeting, she handed me a 4-page, perfectly hand-written letter. I was floored by what she wrote. She's given me permission to share it with you....
