The Hive Dive HW for Session #3

It was so great seeing most of you yesterday! To those on the Zoom call, I apologize for the sporadic interruptions! I've got it all sorted out now so that if/when we use it again, that will not happen. However, along with those technical challenges, the call did NOT get recorded :( so, unfortunately, I don't have a recoding to share with those of you who missed it. But, again, it's all sorted out now, so we should be good to go, moving forward!

As a recap, here's what we discussed at Session #2 as well as assignments for Session #3 (there's a lot of info, so please read all the way through!):

  • Setting an Intention: if you haven't already done so, consider what you'd like your over-arching intention to be for participation in this group - perhaps connected to the original reason you signed up); remember that Intention Requires Attention (here's a blog I wrote about it), so as you're moving through you practice or your day, notice when you are NOT in alignment with your intention and see how you can re-align.
 
  • Discussed passages from Bringing Yoga to Life; for next session, read Chapters 8-14 and, again, note any passages you found to be particularly interesting (whether they resonated or created confusion or discord within you)
 
  • Reviewed of the Yamas & Niyamas; for the month, select 2 Yamas & 2 Niyamas (one of each that feels easy and one of each that feels very difficult) and work to integrate them into your life; journal about the experience
 
  • Reviewed The Four Brahmavihara (The Four Attitudes); for this month, journal each evening about your experiences with practicing the Four Brahmavihara: Friendliness toward the joyful (notice and journal about when you aren’t); Compassion for those who are suffering (notice and journal about which suffering you “allow” and which you don’t); Celebrating the good in others; and remaining impartial to the faults and imperfections of others
 
  • Since we ran out of time for the group activity of developing two yoga practices, I will be designing one grounding/calming practice and one energizing practice this week - both will be posted to the Facebook group (and I'll email them out to the group as well). These will be up by the end of the week (probably sooner!). Please continue your daily movement (10-20 min/day) and feel free to either do yoga during that time OR add yoga to that movement at least 3-4x/week.
 
  • Continue with your daily meditation practice (5-10 minute sits; anchor the attention with sensation in the hands, breath, and sound; notice what interrupts the attention and begin again).
 
  • Lastly, in lieu of utilizing Facebook Live for the Q & A / check-ins, I'm going to use Zoom instead. I will hold two Zoom calls between now and the next session: Tuesday, 3/13 at 8pm and Tuesday, 3/27 at 8pm. I will send out the link to join the call on the Monday prior to the call. I hope many of you can join me for that!
