Learning to rest is a practice...

The number of times I’ve thought, muttered, yelled, cried the phrase “I’m done” is literally immeasurable.

Which is funny because I’m never actually done. I can’t be... until I really am... when I’m DONE done.

Done is wanting to quit. Done is wanting someone else to pick up the pieces or shoulder the weight of the work, wanting to have taken some other path... ultimately: wanting things to be different than they are.

This is called arguing with reality. Or resistance. Or being in conflict with what is. 

It only leads to suffering.

I’ve learned over the years that, in truth, my life is my own, the weight of it is mine to hold, the pieces are mine to consciously tend. I GET to have this life.

And that resting, when and how I can - physically, emotionally, mentally, energetically, socially - and resting deeply on the inside, this is how I meet life. 

Rest and step forward.

Rest and begin again.

Rest and recognize the gift of meeting what life has given me. 

Resting and returning to the preciousness of now.


Learning to rest is a practice...

Deep internal resting takes ongoing attention & work (working at not working).

Half-Day Silent Meditation Retreat

 
Nothing has supported me in my life more than the direct teachings & guidance of my teacher.

Nothing has shown me more about myself and no one has quite ever cut through my egoic material like she has.


I would not be where I sit today without learning to sit with myself.

Over the past decade, I have worked with her 1:1, sat for hundreds of hours of weekly meditations, and accumulated weeks of silent meditation retreats.

And now, only now, am I ready to offer this to you...

Though I always incorporated silence + meditation into my annual retreat, I will now begin to offer silent meditation retreats. It is an honor and a privilege.

My first offering will be a Half-Day Silent Retreat:
Saturday, June 19th, 9am-12:30pm
Richmond VA
Sliding scale donations: $30-$12
