This weekend, my husband and I celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary - below is what I shared about it.

Hey. Remember that day?

I Love you with everything. And I know you Love me with everything AND ALSO that it sometimes takes everything in you to be married to me, so thank you for sticking it out😳😬❤️

All we knew then (and in the 18 years we’ve been together - and maybe even in the full 27 years since we first met 😬😳❤️ -- again) was the connection & energy of Love. With everything that’s come and gone since, that connection & energy of Love is still there. But it’s seeped into all of the places we’ve been stretched and wrung out and expanded and collapsed and broken apart and grown together again. And as hard as that’s been at times, thank goodness, because here we are: more full of what we’ve always known.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of our dear friends commented that it sounded like "Kintsugi." I had to google that :) Turns out that it's a stunningly beautiful art of putting together the broken pieces of pottery by filling the cracks with gold or another precious metal. They call it "The Art of Precious Scars" or "Golden Repair." Check out more about the art as well as how dang beautiful the end results are!

And, of course, because it's what I do, it made me start to reflect on how this time is causing a lot of pain and heartbreak, we are being forced to shift and change in our behaviors, in our thinking, in our emotional states, in our familial structures, and even in our livelihoods - for many of us in a very "forceful" kind of way. This stretching and pushing and cracking and expanding does not come without discomfort. But what it also does not come without is more space (as a result) which is more freedom.

When we resist the fact that the pottery's been broken we get sad, we get angry, we refuse to believe that we cannot have it they way we want it. And we also cannot possibly see that we can put it back together in a magnificently beautiful way, with the breaking points filled with something of a much higher nature.

So, when you take a look at the pieces, the components of your "former"/pre-COVID life, what do you see? Are there bits and shards that you feel you're better off without? Pieces that you know are integral to a fulfilled, purposeful and joyful life? And what's your "gold?" Is it love? Is it connectivity? Is it community? Is it a slower pace? More nature?

I'd love to hear what you envision for yourself, what kind of art you will make with your own precious scars.

Be safe. Stay well. Stay Conscious.

, Ellie

I've decided to create a virtual Facebook group (The Friction & The Freedom) with the hopes of exploring two very intensely different experiences that we are having right now:

🔹 the FRICTION (anxiety, uncertainty, instability, fear, constraint)

🔹 the FREEDOM (the amazing discoveries we are having about being in relationship to ourselves, our relationships, our world)

My hope is to twofold:

1️⃣ to offer you ways to support managing the intensity of the difficult emotions and realities

2️⃣ to help you see the gems that are showing up right now so that you can intentionally choose to create space, allow for shifting into new ways of living in the future

I am keeping the group private but wish to extend the invitation to as many people who I can - not just you wonderful people in my immediate community. I feel incredibly compelled to help usher in a more awake, more connected, and more conscious movement of people as we "re-enter" the our new world. So, please feel free to share and invite whomever you would like.
