“Look at the Whole instead of the holes.”

A client reminded me recently that I asked her to practice that☝🏼during one of our sessions together.

When looking at our lives and/or the people, places, things that make up our lives, we have a tendency to focus in on and attach to what I would refer to as the “holes” - the parts we don’t like, the bits we wish were different, the things we feel are wrong.

It’s important that we see those things and not gloss over or bypass them. But it can be problematic when we ONLY see those things. 

*Not* seeing them and *only* seeing them are equally problematic because neither of those are entirely true. Truth is much larger and holds much more. And without a more whole, truthful understanding, we cannot make meaningful or important decisions about those things in our lives.

When you feel yourself zeroing in, narrowing down around a particular “hole” in your life, try widening your lens; pan out to see the Whole picture. 

The Whole will contain things that the mind feels are contradictory, things that couldn’t possibly exist together. But they do. Stay open and include it all.

Seeing the whole will give you all the information you need to make the decisions you need to make.
