From e{MOTION} to ACTION

Hello, all. I hope this finds you safe and well. 


There’s a small but giant difference between motion and action. Action, according to James Clear, is movement toward a goal while motion is movement NOT toward a goal. 

I, for one, have been deep, deep in emotional motion these past several days. {eMOTIONal}

Deep down in the heavy heartbreak of this country’s history & current reality to which many people are just awakening.

Deep down in revisiting the gruesome truths I’ve picked up & put down over the past decades, as only a white woman can, in the illusion that my family & my community is a reflection of the state of our country & our world. 

Deep down seeing the division, the splintering that exists in the vast field of people that sit in opposition to the alt-right/white supremacists/neo-nazi extremists who seem to be 100% united. {Note: as painful as our our division is, it is necessary in order to push past where we were, were we are today, and where we will be. Pay close attention to those on the frontlines of evolution, of our progression towards becoming more connected, authentic and conscious beings. They are the spark that ignites the fire necessary for transformation.}

Deep down in witnessing, over time, the damage my own white supremacist laden conditioning has had on my relationships & my understanding of the world. 

But motion doesn’t get anyone anywhere. Motion, in my experience, has either zero potential (if it stays motion) or limitless potential (if it shifts to action). Doesn’t matter how much energy it burns up. Motion stays motion until it’s recognized as such. And at that very moment of awareness, there’s an opportunity - an opening to action. 

I humbly & urgently request that you check your motion. It is a privilege to wrestle with emotion. It is a privilege to stay in motion. But when we stay in motion, we kill potential. We destroy possibility. 

Action doesn’t require self-knowledge. But conscious action does require self-knowledge and the ability to move past your racial conditioning. In the coming days, I will be coordinating ways to start (or continue) uncovering and working with unconscious bias and conditioning. Utilizing my expertise as a coach, facilitator, and teacher as well as with my own work in anti-racist inner work, I feel that it is my purpose at this time to support as many white people as possible in this critical step in urgently needed change. If you are interested in learning more, please let me know. And please, please forward this email to your friends and family members who need to hear this message.

Additionally, if you are interested in helping our local business community regain their footing after some of the tangental destruction during the protests, Marche Wyche of Rumors Boutique began a GoFundMe for her own business (set at $5,000) and is now distributing funds to other business in need - as of today she's raised close to $40,000 from community members.

Join me for a donation-based* meditation practice every Monday evening from 7:15-8pm. The practice will include 25-30 minutes of guided meditation and 10-15 minutes for Q&A and guidance at the end of the sit.
