Back to the basics.

Life has a way of doing what ever the hell it wants. 

And sometimes that allows us to float along more effortlessly and easefully through the days.

These are the times when it may not feel necessary to do the hard work of being human. These are the times we think we are afloat because of something we are doing to make it all work to our liking.

But then there are the times when life requires you, unrelentingly, to go back to the absolute basics; to remember what matters most and to return to the fundamental necessities: sleep, hydration, nourishing food, movement, connection. These are the answers not to "what matters" but "what matters more."

Not because they allow you to float but because they keep you from sinking.

We return to the basics not when life is easy but when it’s hard. The basics aren’t glamorous or new, usually. The basics are tried-and-true, threadbare and worn. The basics are fundamentally simple. But they certainly will see us through.
