While we're on the topic of the pandemic's impact on our nervous systems (see last week's newsletter!)...

I've really been diving into the importance of nourishing and resetting the nervous system with my clients lately. Like most things, I have direct experiences in my life that give me understandings which I then in corporate into pretty much everything I do. I just can't help it! And I don’t know about you but my nervous system has been jacked up lately.

My sense is that things are loosening up, internally, from over a year of head-down survival mode. And the inner agitation is simply that material shifting and moving out.

And that’s all good.... but still very challenging.

So, if you need this like I do... here are 4 things to do right now to support your nervous system (to move you from fight/flight/freeze toward the neutral state of rest & digest):

✨awareness-based, grounding yoga practices: not all yoga practices are created equal :) during times of transition and inner agitation, we need grounding and centering which comes through practices that allow us to stay in and experience spaciousness in our bodies

✨extended exhale breathwork: extend your exhale so that you fully empty of the breath (this includes a slight drawing in at the solar plexus/diaphragm to activate the vagus nerve)

✨feel the support beneath you: bring the attention in & down to whatever is in contact with the floor/ground and really rest downward into that support

✨soothe through your senses: provide your senses (sight, smell, sound) with material that nourishes and replenishes rather than what drains and depletes

To help you with some of these things, I am so thrilled to be back at the beautiful light-filled space of Lucid Living starting THIS WEEK for live (still virtual) yoga classes!

Join me live every Tuesday, 9:30-10:30am - drop-ins $15
