quick update from a desk in rural maine
patchworks is a container for my writing experiments
hello, my friends. if you are reading this email in your inbox then you won’t notice a difference…(maybe?)
if you’ve grown used to reading my emails in the substack app, then the change will be obvious.

i am not even 100% ready to share the change. i’ve only just confirmed the decision ten minutes ago AT MOST. nothing is ready!!! but, quite frankly, i am reminding myself through the writing that it’s okay for it not to be.
i am a lover of process. and if i am to hold that truth close to my heart, i need to act upon it often- not just when it’s comfortable. so, here i am.
the decision aka the change aka the news!:
i have decided i am going to be moving away from substack and the patchwork life newsletter will be sent via buttondown moving forward.

the customization on this platform (can it be called that?) is still in the works, the archive still isn’t optimized or pretty, the details undetermined… but it feels good. it feels aligned.
the decision to leave substack is based on conversations we’ve been having in the discord and also podcasts i’ve been listening to, writers and artists i’ve been inspired by and above all else- thoughts i’ve been feeling. instagram is next (perhaps) but that’s a conversation for another time.
i want to work with my garage door open
i am a lover of process!! and creativity !! and sharing what excites me to the community !!
and in alignment with that: i don’t want to wait (all of the time) for things to be “completed” to share things with you.
if my personal history has taught me anything, it’s that i live on that ebb and flow, everchanging, transformation loving, deconstruction and construction highway - nothing will ever be 100% finished. why wait then??? the decision has been made, the process has begun. if you like, be witness to it. may you approach any endeavor in your life with the same sense of experiment and play. may i remind myself, when the perfectionism hits me hard, to do so too.
lots of love,

p.s. i also started working on publishing parts of my obsidian vault online. it’s a work in progress through and through. i love it !!
