What is this?
It's a newsletter! I've started it more or less on a whim and I'm grateful to you for reading it!
Last night, my husband, E, and I were talking about writing. We were talking about how frustrating and demoralizing I find, honestly, most parts of the writing process, and we were brainstorming ways to get me out of my current creative rut.
Here's what we came up with:
- a newsletter that (generally) comes out Monday - Thursday
- that I'll try to spend no more than one hour on each day
- this means it might have typos or be quite short
- and it will definitely not be my most polished work
I think it will be helpful for me to write more regularly, and I purposely chose writing in a newsletter format rather than a physical notebook or a digitial document that's only for me. This way I have to finish what I start writing (to some degree, anyway) and send it to at least a handful of lovely people who might read it and write back to me. That said, please don't feel like you have to write back to me! I hope that something I write in the next couple of weeks will inspire you to send me some feedback, but, if not, no worries.
Why is it called On / Off?
I wanted this project to be time limited in some way because writing a 4x/week newsletter indefinitely is a pretty big task, and a good way to set myself up for failure. Instead I'm going to try to send 10 editions of the newsletter (on), and then take 10 days when I would have sent out the newsletter off. Then I'll do 10 more days on, and 10 more days off. This schedule is probably going to be hard to follow, but just know that right now the newsletter is "on" and you'll receive 9 more editions before it turns "off" for a little while.
Let's see how this goes.
Liebe Grüße
Emma
