On Vacation Again
I may have just been on vacation in the US (and for longer than I intended), but E hadn't taken a week off from work since May. And we hadn't done an overnight anywhere together since June 2020. This is primarily because Germany's second lockdown, between January and May of this year, didn't allow for overnight tourist stays. And then, even when renting an airbnb or staying at a hotel was allowed again, we wanted to wait until we were fully vaccinated to take advantage.
All of this is to say, we're at a cabin in the woods from now until Sunday! ** insert excited air horn noise, which breaks the quiet, stillness of the country air **
We're here with our friends, Eben and Laura, and the plan is just to hang out, take walks, and eat tasty food. I'm still working this week, but only for a couple of hours in the afternoon today and tomorrow, so it definitely still feels like I'm on vacation with the rest of the group.
I was happy to be home in Berlin and didn't need a change of scenery so soon. But I know E, Eben, and Laura really needed this time away and I'm excited to spend it with them. We've got some reconnecting to do after so much time apart (first because we weren't seeing each other in person until E and I were fully vaccinated, and then because, as soon as we were fully vaccinated, I jetted off to the US for most of the month of September).
With that in mind, I'm going to hit send on this newsletter now, and spend some time with my family :)
