Eduan's Music: First edition
Hey first email. Welcome. It's the first email so I'll share some stuff I've shared with friends in the last couple weeks, along with some super recent stuff. Enjoy your stay.
BTW, most of the stuff will be shared from YouTube, since that's something everybody has.
And also, forgive me, as always, if I misname a genre. I'm no expert in genres.
Korean funk
First let's start with that Korean funk, not a lot of it, but I enjoyed it.
And I don't say Korean funk because it's a new genre, I just say it because the players are Korean. Apparently there is not a scarcity of this content, but I dunno Korean so it's a bit harder to find I'm pretty sure.
- 드림세션 X 임용훈 : Mind of J(John Blackwell)
- 2K4 Covered by 박해찬 Project
- THE BRIDGE - My Heart Sings Praises (내마음다해) 박광식 임용훈 공민 김기욱
- 서울실용음악학교 기타&베이스 페스티벌 2013: 12 양경아 Night Rhythm (Cover)
- [임용훈&장태웅 듀오 MV 2] : 주의 친절한 팔에 안기세 Funk Duo Ver.
Japanese Koto
Because of the manga Kono Oto Tomare! I got to find out the Koto Japanese instrument, and so happens that there are official interpretations of the music in the manga, which is quite nice. Here they are, listed in order of appearance in the manga and skipping any plot setup from the manga the video may have:
The second piece as I understand it requires a lot of coordination from the players. I mean they all do of course, but the second piece has a the players inter-mingling their notes as if it were one player playing them. Also the players playing the same notes at the same time. What do I know though, I'm just going off of what I can hear/see and what the manga put emphasis on haha
Now going towards Koto music not from Kono Oto Tomare!, here's some pieces I've enjoyed:
- Sakura "Cherry Blossoms";Traditional Music of Japan, Classical Koto Music 日本の伝統音楽
- Nanae Yoshimura - The Art of Koto Vol. 1 (a collection of pieces)
Actually I found it a bit hard to find Koto music that was recorded with good equipment and environment AND also only about the Koto, without other instruments.
The Japanese Shamisen
Another Japanese instrument, though this one I was aware of from some years ago.
- Shamisen Girls Ki&Ki - Tsugaru Jongara Bushi
- Takeda Bushi - Shamisen Girls KiKi
- Shamisen Vs. Shamisen (an oddly titled video for a duo piece..)
- YOSHIDA BROTHERS -- Kodo
- Shamisen Under The Cherry Blossoms 2017 - Ki&Ki 輝&輝 津軽三味線
Again, it's hard to find high quality shamisen-only videos on YouTube. The results do change if you search with "三味線" instead of "shamisen".
Miscellaneous
The section I fill up with videos that didn't have enough similar videos to be put into their own section.
- half•alive - still feel. [VIDEO] - Thought it had an interesting sound. Although it is quite modern, from what I can hear the dynamic range is not over compressed. I'm no expert though.
- Lucie,Too - Lucky (Official Music Video) - Musically not very interesting, but I liked it anyway.
- YeYe - ゆらゆら(Official Music Video) - Calm music about a now over relationship.
- ネクライトーキー MV「オシャレ大作戦」 - Honestly I've no clue what it's about, but it's a fun tune I thought. Also how can she sing like that.
- God knows... ''The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya'' 【涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱】Kadokawa公認MAD【ベース 演奏】 - A bit compressed maybe. Just a rock piece from an anime.
- Dave Grohl - Play (Official Video) - My link skips to when the song starts, but you can watch from the beginning for some behind the scenes stuff.
And with that, I finish that email. It's a lot of links, but it is a combination of the last few weeks of content to my friends.
And you may notice, there's a lot of Japanese music in this email. That is normal. My listening habits are biased towards Japanese music usually. I do listen to other music though 😉
As always, if there is some music you want to share with me, just answer to this email and I'll check it out! 😊 Whether you think I'll like it or not, share it, I'm interested.
