💫 New and Useful

📍 Likely been around for a while but new to me; the Council’s Quiet Routes page which includes a collection of downloadable map PDFs. The online map also has cycle parking marked up.

🛣 Road and Route Closures

🚦 Ongoing temporary lights for works at Spylaw Street in Colinton affecting Woodhall Rd / Colinton Rd;

🚙 Temporary traffic lights at Riccarton Mains Rd near Heriot Watt;

⚓ Pennywell Rd closed Northbound from today for around 10 days;

⛔ Corstorphine High Street is closed Monday - Friday for approximately another fortnight for phase 2 of the Corstorphine Connections project;

🥳 The various restrictions in the Old Town for the festival are now finished and reopened.

Other closures can be found in the Council’s frequently updated Road Report.

🛠 Infrastructure Progress

🛢 SW20 shared some great news from Oxgangs Farm / Dreghorn linked to as a bit of a disaster in our previous issue; bollards now in place and the reinstatement of a path on the desire line;

🎨 The Council shared some of the progress from John’s Place on the Leith Connections project;

🖌 Longstone Community Council shared progress on the resurfacing of Lanark Rd with the lines being repainted ahead of the reintroduction of bollards to protect the cycle lanes;

📆 Events and Happenings

💻 Broughton Street online meeting tonight (28th) discussing traffic, transport and mobility issues with local councillors;

🌎 Heard about the global ‘Cycle September’ movement via Instagram and the Edinburgh Critical Mass folks on their ride out to Porty at the weekend - looks like it could be fun, runs 1st - 30th;

🎈 The Wee Spoke Hub’s relaunch event includes a led city ride, swapshop, screen printing workshop and clothing repair session on 9th Sept;

🏖 Porty Bikefest on 16th September offers test rides of e-cargo bikes and unusual cycles, a bike health check and more;

👥 Tickets are available for the Cycling Scotland Conference 2023, on Thursday 26th October at the John McIntyre Conference Centre at Pollock Halls.
