Some New Stuff This Week!
Whoa! BE PATIENT! It's coming.
Happy October! We are officially in fall, which is officially my favorite time of year. The holidays are coming and I love 'em all, even lame Thanksgiving, sort of, and the sun is GONE. If you ever see someone outside in a bathrobe, glaring at the summer sun and shaking his fist at the sky...it's probably not me, because I don't owe a bathrobe, but just know I support that bathrobed HERO.
Anyway, I promised you new stuff! And I'm really excited because three great writers have new books out this week, I'm doing a really cool event this Thursday, and you can stick my voice in your ear holes!
Read on, reader...
New Books!
I'm so excited by these three books, each coming out this week. All three writers are friends of mine, and one of the most wonderful things about becoming a published writer is the chance to make friends with writers you greatly respect. Do me a favor and check out One Night Gone by Tara Laskowski, Little Voices by Vanessa Lillie, and After the Storm by Marietta Miles. You'll be happy you did.
Mystery Writers at Loyalty Books
I'll be on a panel with my friends John Copenhaver and Angie Kim at Loyalty Bookstore. Loyalty Books is new to this location, and we're making this event a "Meet the Bookstore" kind of thing for mystery writers and readers. John, Angie and I will be joined in conversation by Sisters in Crime President, and author of the Sarah Winston mysteries, Sherry Harris, and we're going to discuss the DC/MD/VA writing scene, publishing, and what fall books we're looking forward to. And there will be mystery-themed cocktails and (and this is important) Georgetown Cupcakes! This Thursday night, 7 PM, at 827 Upshur Street, NW. D.C.'s 10th Noir at the Bar
I can't believe it, but on October 12th, we'll be having D.C.'s TENTH Noir at the Bar! We're back at the Wonderland Ballroom for an evening of questionable morality, booze, and fantastic short fiction! The audience favorite will receive an engraved dagger (of course), and we'll have surprises throughout the evening. AND CHECK OUT THAT ROSTER OF WRITERS! Event information is here: https://www.facebook.com/events/473992626488394/
I've had the chance to work with, and become good friends with, both J.J. and Gwen, and again, it's one of those cool things where you like both the writer and their work. But I'll let J.J. explain why you should read Gwen Florio ASAP (and, while you're checking out his recommendation, check out Forgiveness Dies, the third book in Hensley's Trevor Galloway series):
Hey, you. Yeah, you. Have you read Gwen Florio’s work? Her fantastic Lola Wicks series? Her standalone masterpiece Silent Hearts? If your answer to any of these questions is “no” then get on your literary horse and see what you’re missing.
Yes - now!
Okay, he's a man of few words, but they're convincing words! Click on the images above to learn more about each writer and their books.
It's contest time! And let's change it up this month. Instead of an Amazon gift card, I'm going to send one lucky winner brand new copies of One Night Gone, Little Secrets, and After the Storm. And the winner is...
Rebecca Larey!
Congrats, Rebecca! Check your e-mail for a separate note from me, and happy reading!
I mentioned that you can stick my voice in your ear. Well, last week I had the chance to appear on the Chatter on Books podcast, which was hosted by some of D.C.s most accomplished...and then there's me! It was a lot of fun and we discussed everything from sadistic children to Cheers to writing. You can listen to it here (the entire podcast is great, but I'm on around the 24th minute): http://www.chatteronbooks.com/episode/ed-aymar-the-unrepentant/
Thank you for reading, and see you next month!
