D.C. Virtual Noir at the Bar - Update, and Your Votes
Hello Virtual D.C. Noir at the Bar Viewer!
Ed! Why are you e-mailing me? IT’S SUNDAY MORNING AND I’M SLEEPING IN LATE.
First off, there's a small chance you're going to receive multiple versions of this e-mail from me and, if you do, I apologize. Technology!
Second, you're receiving this e-mail because you attended one of the seven events in D.C.'s Noir for Indie Bookstoires series! Thank you so much for supporting local D/M/V writers and bookstores. It's been a pleasure to do this series, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
Third, I have a couple of announcements, which is why I e-mailed you.
Fourth, I have a small child and I don’t know what “sleeping in late” means.
Okay, what do you want?
I wanted to let you know that the regular weekly events have ended but, as you may have seen, I plan on continuing this series, just not on a weekly basis. The next event (more on this in a moment) will be held on Sunday night, June 28th. After that, events will be held monthly, starting in July and continuing through December.
What’s happening on June 28th? Will it be cool?
The June 28th event is going to be very cool! It's called "Viewers' Choice." It will be held on behalf of the Ivy Bookstore, and will feature five fan favorites from the seven events we did. And I need YOUR help to pick them! Simply reply to this e-mail with your favorite readers from the series (pick up to five) and I'll announce the top 5 vote getters in a couple of days. You can register for that event here: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/d-c--virtual-noir-at-the-5.
As you may have seen, our last event (this past Friday night) had a number of technical issues, and four of the attending writers didn't have the chance to read. So I've invited all four of those writers to return to the screen, and they'll be reading on June 28th, along with the top 5 vote getters.
I did see that event! Wait, you’re still using Crowdcast? lol. They HATE you!
I'm planning on doing the June 28th event on Crowdcast. I'm working with their tech people now on the issues we had and, yes, they probably do hate me.
However, if I decide to do the 6/28 event on a different platform, I’ll let you know. Everyone registered for that event will receive an e-mail from me, letting you know how to watch it. For six of the seven events, Crowdcast was a perfect, ideal platform, and I really hope they get their sh*t together.
Okay, got it. But how do I remember all the readers from every single event?
You can see ALL of the lineups at this link, along with replays of every event: https://eaymarwrites.com/noirbar/
I read at one of these events! Can I vote for myself?
Sure!
Can I vote for someone who didn’t read?
What? No.
Is there a way to keep informed about future D.C. Virtual Noir at the Bars? Say, with an infrequent newsletter or cool social media handle? Do I use something called Tik Tok?
I don't have a specific social media handle for D.C.'s Noir at the Bar, or a dedicated newsletter for it but (at the risk of being self-serving), my author newsletter is the best way to stay informed about these events. I send it monthly, and I try to make it as unobtrusive and unannoying as possible. You can subscribe to it here: .
(While you are receiving this e-mail though a newsletter program, this specific one is a one-time thing.)
I liked the music and the drinking! So what about Sara Jones and Chantal Tseng?
A LOT of you have inquired about our two show-stealers, jazz singer Sara Jones and mixologist Chantal Tseng. And I’m proud to announce that both will continue to be a part of the series! And, remember, you can learn more about Sara and Chantal, and support their work, at the links below:

Excellent! Thank you.
No, thank you for attending these readings! It's been so fun to do them, and I'm excited that it's not ending anytime soon. We have a lot of bookstores in the D/M/V, and I want to make sure they all get our support.
And I'm looking forward to seeing your picks for Viewers' Choice!
Will do! For now, I’m going back to bed.
JEALOUS.
