Welcome to the June Newsletter from Unconfined — Eastercon 2027 in Glasgow. This is just going to be a short one — for reasons revealed below…

What we’ve been up to this month

We had a great time at Satellite 9 in Glasgow at the end of May. We’ve always loved the Satellite conventions, their blend of “Science Fiction, Science Fact, Science Fun” makes for a great time.

We also are happy that our co-chairs remain reigning champions of the “So you want to move to Scotland?” quiz, because it would be awkward if they had to move back to England, really.

Crowne Plaza Site Visit

While many of the team were in Glasgow, we took the opportunity to have a site visit to the Crowne Plaza, our venue hotel. We reminded ourselves of the layout and made decisions on how we will use all the space. Many of you will be glad to know that the lift refurbishment is well underway,

Where to find us next

From 2—5 July, we’ll be at Metropolcon in Berlin — this year’s Eurocon. We will have a full fan table there, so come and say hi. We are excited to be there — the programme looks amazing and we always have a great time talking to everyone at conventions in the EU. See you there!

Next Newsletter is Progress Report 1!

Newsletter time next month is just over nine months from the start of Unconfined — so we thought it’s time for Progress Report 1. We’ll provide you all with a full update on where we’re up to in our planning, inform you of important upcoming dates of which you will want to be aware, and tell you more about Glasgow, the SEC Campus and the surrounding area.

Progress Report 1 will of course be downloadable in PDF and ePUB — as are all our newsletters — from our website.

We are proposing to send out each Progress Report (maximum of four before the convention) plus final details to all members. All other newsletters — around one a month — will be sent to those who have chosen to receive all communications.
