About the Session
We will discuss where malleable software sits in today’s era of generative AI. We will explore different visions of malleable software, how GenAI is beginning to enable some of these ideas, and what limitations still remain. I will share an overview of the various forms of malleable software people envision, briefly present my past and ongoing work in this space, and share some open challenges, such as the limitations of LLMs, end-user capabilities, and business incentives that influence the development, use, and adoption of malleable software.
Speaker Bio
Bryan Min is a PhD student in the Foundation Interface Lab at UC San Diego. His research centers on malleable software—software that enables users to easily, expressively, and broadly extend and modify systems to fit their diverse tasks and needs. His recent interests focus on the use of generative UI for designing and adopting malleable software.
