You're Invited to the Nov. DWeb SF In-Person Meetup 💥
Join us at DWeb SF's Meetup (in person) Wednesday, November 16 5 - 8 PM PT 🥳
What can the DWeb Community learn from Twitter? Since our October Meetup, we've experienced Elon, tech layoffs & the FTX bankruptcy. Tech disruption is in the air. Come meet the Bay Area technologists, policymakers, & change agents dedicated to building a better web at the November DWeb SF Meetup! Wednesday, Nov 16, we'll gather in-person at the Internet Archive in San Francisco for food, drink, and friendly networking. Then, we'll hear from DWeb leaders who can provide us with some Big Picture thinking and analysis of the Twitter implosion. We'll engage in a rousing discussion about what happens in the Musk-era of Twitter and what decentralized tech can do to offer alternatives. What are the lessons for the DWeb? What are the pros and cons of decentralized alternatives like Mastodon? NOTE: This week we welcome friends from around the globe who are in town for the Internet Identity Workshop. Be sure to attend IIW (Nov 15-17) in Mt. View and then pop over afterwards at the DWeb Meetup for some networking fun. SCHEDULE: 5-6:00 PM -- cocktails, drinks, and food on the Internet Archive patio (enter from the Clement St. gate) 6-7:00 PM -- group discussion & break outs about the post Musk-Twitter opportunities & challenges 7-8:00 PM -- s'mores around the fire, networking & a tour of the Internet Archive, home of the Wayback Machine!
All are welcome! Looking forward to seeing you there.
NOTE: This is an in-person, in-door/outdoor event. We ask that you mask when coming indoors.
