Two Weeks to DWeb Camp! 🎉

DWeb Camp schedule is up! ⛺️🎉

The DWeb Camp Schedule is up at https://dwebcamp.org/schedule/. This is a basic outline - we are adding new things everyday as more proposals come in. Start planning your time at Camp and creating your own schedule using Sched.

If you haven't yet, read "DWeb Camp 2022: A Grounded Convening of Those Building a Decentralized, Values-Driven Web" where Mai Ishikawa Sutton, DWeb Camp's Director of Fellowships, talks about what this grounded camp focused on Ethical Values will hold. From the Hackers Hall to the Thunder Salon, find out what spaces and offerings you will be engaging with at Camp.

1 WEEK LEFT - SUBMIT YOUR PROJECTS, IDEAS AND TALKS BY AUGUST 17

We're moving the deadline to submit talks up to August 17 so we can get everything into Sched. Don't worry, there will be open space left for spontaneous conversations but we already have over 200 sessions happening. DWeb Camp is an opportunity to connect, learn, share and have fun as we work towards building a better, decentralized web. A web that actualizes the principles of trust, human agency, mutual respect, and ecological awareness. Bring what you have to share - whether that's leading a workshop or yoga class, reading a story, performing an informal concert or giving a talk. Let us know what you'll like to share:

  • Want to give a Lightning Talk? Fill out this form
  • Want to propose a workshop, activity, or conversation? Fill out this form
  • After your submission is accepted, share your ideas via our Gitlab: Fill out this New Issue template in our Gitlab Issues page, and see everyone else’s ideas too.

Some organizers are working on big collaborative ideas. Here are a few you can sign up for:

  • Mesh Networks: Interested in volunteering as a DWeb mesh volunteer? Join the listserv at dweb-mesh@googlegroups.com.
  • Science Fair by the Necto Labs & Mysterium Network: Present your tool, project, or campaign by signing up here for a camp-wide expo
  • Dogfooding Decentralization by dSocial Commons: Need feedback on your tech? Sign up here to participate in a camp-wide user testing session
  • P-2-P Space by Eric Bear & Anna Lekanova: Got an interactive social or digital technology that fosters person-to-person relational networks to do a session with? Tell us about it here!

DWEB CAMP COVID PROTOCOL

We’ve come a long way since the Covid-19 pandemic began. However, it isn’t over yet. New variants are creating a shifting landscape but we are hopeful that by the end of August, the current spike will be waning. Together, we would like to create a safe culture for everyone to enjoy this year’s DWeb Camp. Read about what we're doing here.

Tents, Rideshare and Sleepover at the Archive

We're down to the last two weeks before DWeb Camp and so excited to welcome you to Camp Navarro in the beautiful redwoods near the Mendocino coast of California.

  • Have a ride to camp yet? NEW ADD: We've chartered a 27-person bus to get folks to camp. Masks will be required for the entire duration of the bus ride. You can book a spot on the bus for $100 round trip and $50 one-way.
  • Are you looking to carpool with other campers? If you'd rather carpool, you can still sign up to offer a ride, or request one. If you bring three people in your car, parking is free.
  • Lock in your accommodation now! We are working on getting more tents available for anyone who needs them. Select the "New 1-person Tent, Mattress, Pillow" option. If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, now is the time. Get them at dwebcamp.org and prepare to meet community leaders also attending DWeb Camp. Check out who's coming here.
  • If you want to sleep over the night before or after the camp, we’re opening the doors to the Internet Archive. Please sign up here if you're interested.

Gates open for registration on Wednesday, August 24th at 2:00pm, and close for the day at 10:00pm. If you cannot make it before 10:00pm, please come up on Thursday, August 25th when gates open again at 9:00am.

The Orientation & Opening Circle is Wednesday, August 24th at 7:30pm. The Opening Circle is the best way to get centered for camp. We hope you can prioritize being at camp for this beautiful ritual.

Camp is over on Sunday, August 28th at 11:30am, and all campers need to be off-site by this time. The only exception to this is if you would like to actively help with breakdown and join a breakdown crew. Signups will be available at the event.
