We’ll gather virtually (since DWebbers span the world) and then hang out in Gather.town for more informal socializing.

Reflections from technologists
First in our roundup, one of our wonderful community members, Holochain, put out a wide range of posts about their time at DWeb Camp. - The Holochain community shares some of their overall experiences at DWeb Camp 2023 + Holochain. - Paul d'Aoust offers a vision of What’s Next for the DWeb? - Eric Harris-Braun reflects on building Emergence: Lessons in Contextual Complexity. - Yavuz Selim Kıyak gives us a non-technical perspective on what it was like to feel The Joy of Missing Out with Holochain at DWeb Camp.
Andi Argast, from Hypha, came away with an optimistic outlook for our Technological futures under the redwoods. Speaking of Hypha, some of their co-op members and partners: Jacky Zhao, Mauve, & Fauno recently sat down on the on the DWeb Decoded podcast to talk about Decentralized Publishing with Distributed Press.
Stories from our Fellows and Stewards
This year, we had 36 Fellows – they traveled from India, Cambodia, Argentina, Cuba, Kenya, Malawi, Germany, Italy, and from many other places overseas, as well as from across North America and the Bay Area. Our very own, Mai Ishikawa Sutton and Nicolás Pace share a bit about each of the Fellows in this blog post: DWeb Fellows 2023: Lighting the Path Towards a Better Web.
To hear more from some of the Fellows themselves: - Listen to Xin Xin and TB Dinesh have a conversation on Location Intelligence and seeing the miracles in your own place. - Jacky Zhao welcomes us to DWeb Camp: Gather by the Campfire.
We also had new folks who had never been to DWeb Camp before. They share their experiences as stewards and making connections with other builders & dreamers working towards a better Web. - Christian Memije documents his first-time experience traveling to, volunteering, and creating an app at DWeb Camp 2023. - Val Elefante gives us a definition and illustration of a framework for what “decentralization” means and looking forward to Coalition-Building Across the Tech Stack.
Short on time? - Joy Zhang gives a quick introduction to the DWeb and Camp. We’re staying tuned for part 2! - Amplica Labs wrote up a tweet thread on what it was like for them at Camp.
Lessons from our community
And finally, some deep lessons from DWeb veterens on their time at DWeb Camp. - Lia Holland from Fight for the Future, curated an amazing line-up for the Bodily Autonomy track, bringing representatives from six abortion and gender-affirming care organizations together in the redwoods. She shares the struggles these groups face and the inspiring ways that the DWeb Community can move towards Uniting tech and activism: How Dweb Camp is elevating decentralized technology. - Our amazing friends and partners at Metagov came back this year and have an exhaustive breakdown of their work and adventures at DWeb Camp: Exploring Governance & AI. - Emaline Friedman, from Neighbourhoods, tells us about Social Coordination & Sensemaking at DWeb Camp 2023. - Paul Krafel shares some touching moments of improvisation, stepping out of our normally scripted lives, and taking the time to connect in-the-moment with our fellow human beings and the natural world around us in DWeb and Grief.
