Come to the Internet Archive’s Party for the Public Domain!
It's true: the best things in life are free. Friday night come celebrate the films, books, and music from 1927 now free in the Public Domain! We're partying like it's 1927 at the Internet Archive.
Come dressed in your best golden age of Hollywood inspired costume and walk the red carpet with the Internet Archive as we celebrate the entry of “talkies” into the public domain. We will celebrate 1927 as the first year of the Oscars movie awards, while watching this year’s Public Domain Day Remix Contest winning entries, eating popcorn and vintage candy, and singing along to some of 1927s biggest hits. We will also have a fascinating talk from the San Francisco Silent Film Festival about this Golden Age of film. After the film screenings, we'll dance the night away with dance instruction in some of the era's most iconic dance styles. Prizes will be given for the best costume, so put on your best outfits and party with us!
