COMMUNITY UPDATES
- Bay Area DWeb Community Co-Working Day: Join us on Thursdays at the Internet Archive for a co-working session with fellow DWebbers. Enjoy amazing Wifi, a nice workspace, snacks, coffee, tea and good company. No need to register—come by between 10am–5pm PST. We are located at the cross section of Funston and Clement in San Francisco. There’s free street parking but you have to move your car every 2 hrs. It’s also a short walk from the California and Geary MUNI lines. Come to the black iron gate to the right of the main doors, along the grass-lined path. There will be signs outside to help find it. Ring the bell when you arrive. Feel free to bring a friend! If you have questions, ask in our Discord and Matrix channels.
- Social Impact Summit 2024: This year, the Blockchain Law for Social Good Center (BL4SG) and Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web (FFDW) are coming together to host the inaugural Social Impact Summit on Tuesday, February 27. The event will center on the future of emerging tech – from AI to blockchain to decentralized tools – and dive into how these technologies can create lasting impact, empower communities, and foster collaboration across diverse industries. Register on Eventbrite.
- Registration is open for the DWeb for Creators Course: Calling all next-generation artists, archivists, gallerists, activists and creative professionals! Join DWeb for Creators - an 8 week interdisciplinary online learning adventure into the heart of the decentralized web from Wednesday, Mar 6, 2024 - Sunday, Apr 28, 2024. This course is produced by Gray Area, and supported by Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web. This is a learning adventure to understand the language, philosophy and culture of the decentralized web. In optional praxis sessions you will learn the basics of many decentralized methods and tools. The cohort of artist-educators will guide course participants into the political and social organizing power that can transform your art practice, for you and your community. You can learn more about the course here.
- Causal Islands Los Angeles (Save the Date): Some of the Fission team will be in Los Angeles the third week of March 2024. They’re gathering interest in putting on a one day Causal Islands-style event: talks and discussion about the future of computing. You can get a sense of the topics and attendees by looking at the Causal Islands 2023 Toronto event, as well as watching the talks on YouTube. Check out lu.ma/causal-islands-la if you’re interested in learning more or attending.

Help us plan for DWeb Camp 2024
We’ve locked down the dates for DWeb Camp 2024 so get ready to gather at Camp Navarro from August 7–11. Meanwhile, we will be having a planning meeting the first week of March. It would be super helpful for us if you could fill out this survey by mid-February to help us plan for Camp and allow us incorporate your ideas into our planning. If you indicate an interest in volunteering, stewarding, or sponsoring Camp, we'll be following up with you later in March. Questions?
