3 ways to better understand Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)
At the May 2021 DWeb Meetup, we heard from three artists and a technologist, offering differing perspectives about the potential and pitfalls of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). You registered for the event, but in case you missed it:

During the event, VR artist/technologist Jin gave us a tour of an art gallery of NFTs and showed us how NFTs are being used in a new digital gift economy. Speakers explained the nuances of how NFTs can be extremely energy-intensive, depending on which blockchains they are tied to. We learned about alternative ways of minting NFTs to minimize energy consumption and other protocols, including IPFS, to ensure that the tokens persist online. The conversation also covered the ways in which NFTs replicate existing economic issues in both the technological and creative economies.
