Last chance to apply for a DWeb Fellowship
Last chance to apply for a DWeb Fellowship
DWeb Fellowship application deadline extended to today—Friday, March 24!
We're looking for those working with/for marginalized communities as an artist, organizer, educator, technologist, or researcher to make tech more just, participatory, and accessible.
As a Fellow, we will cover your costs to travel to and from Camp, as well as your ticket and accommodations. Our Fellows are outstanding individuals who are creating or employing technologies in ways that uplift communities facing systemic inequality and help bring about justice and social equity. Be part of an amazing cohort of people who are not only imagining a better Web, but are building them for and alongside marginalized populations. Fellows will be expected to: - Attend an online orientation before the event. - Share their knowledge, skills, or experience with other DWeb Campers, by giving a talk and/or leading a workshop or discussion during the event. - Write or give a presentation of their reflections following the event at a DWeb meetup.
Those who are awarded the fellowship will receive a stipend of up to $2200 to cover costs of meals and travel in addition to free registration and accommodations at Camp Navarro.
Application deadline: TODAY, Friday March 24, 2023, end of day wherever you are.
Claim your spot at DWeb Camp 🏕️
We’re less than 90 days away from DWeb Camp, a five-day retreat for builders and dreamers to gather in nature, connect, learn, share, and have fun while working towards building a better, more decentralized web.
This is a chance to come together and freely exchange ideas about the technologies, laws, practices and agreements we need to build a decentralized web that uplifts communities and help bring about justice and social equity through network technologies.
There will be lots of great programming for children and families, design, arts, music and more. Bring a friend, bring your family to experience fun, serenity, flow and community in the redwoods.
DWeb Camp Dates: June 21 - 25, 2023
The build begins June 19 and takedown team departs June 26
Volunteer at Camp
There are lots of ways to stay connected and involved at DWeb Camp. We are looking for leaders with many skills.
DWeb camp is built and run by volunteer power. Are you a team player, a DIY builder who loves the outdoors? Can you paint a sign, lay cables or help erect a tent? Are you a thrifty maker, known for turning discarded items into gold? Then we are looking for you!
Apply by March 31 to be a Space Steward, Weaver or Volunteer
Volunteers work before, during or after the camp as part of a fun and dedicated team of superheroes.
Half time volunteers cover five 3-hour shifts during Camp and qualify for a 50% ticket reimbursement. (Total commitment: 15 hours)
Full time volunteers come to either the BUILD (June 19-21) or TAKE DOWN (June 25-26) and help set up and strike the camp then during Camp, volunteer four additional 3-hour shifts and qualify for a 100% ticket reimbursement. (Total commitment: 30 hours)
Or just volunteer for the fun and camaraderie.
Space Stewards help guide and support activities in specific venues around the camp. They curate the session proposals before the event, and assist in facilitating the space’s activities. If selected, space stewards receive 100% free campership and just have to cover lodging and transportation!
Weavers facilitate small group discussions in their sharing circle of 5-8 people at the end of each day. This helps Campers connect more deeply with others and reflect on the day’s activities and discussions.
Be sure to buy a ticket now to secure a spot and if selected we will refund your ticket fees. If you do not secure a spot and choose not to come, we're happy to refund your ticket in full. Questions?
