JOIN US TOMORROW 3/9: DWeb @ MozFest: Can we build a better web and protect our planet? š
How can we build a better web AND protect our planet at the same time?
"When we create something new, we hope to make a meaningful improvement. We hope at worst that the cost of our prototype yields something worthwhile: an important learning. It should encapsulate a way of thinking that is different, in some critical way, from what exists." - Kelsey Breseman
Last year, Kelsey Breseman,Ā Civic Science Fellow at the Environmental Data and Governance Initiative, wroteĀ a thought-provoking essay on ecological awareness, one of theĀ core principles of the DWeb. In this essay, she discusses the ecological impacts of decentralized technology.
At the March DWeb Meetup, we join hands with Mozfest 2022 to tackle some big questions: How can we build a better web AND protect our planet at the same time? For those of us working on decentralized tech, how can we achieve both critical goals?
Join us on March 9 to hear some of Kelsey's musings on the topic and participate in a facilitated discussion. Come toĀ this session with an open mind, willingness to listen and your own knowledge and expertise. Together, we will examine the assumptions and truths about energy use and blockchains, NFTs, and how the decentralized web can solve some problems, while perhaps deepening others.
