DWeb at RightsCon 2025
In late February, members of the DWeb Core Team and the DWeb community were in Taipei to attend the 13th edition of RightsCon, the largest global summit on human rights in the digital age.
We took the opportunity to organize activities before and during the conference: a local networking workshop co-organized with g0v, sessions on both DWeb organizing and how fiction can better depict surveillance technologies, a DWeb dinner, as well as a final day of tabling in the halls of the venue.

- AHOY! The European Social Web Day is taking place in Hamburg on April 24! Join this event focused on how to build the future of a cooperative, open social web based on decentralization, user autonomy and great user experiences. They’re connecting early adopters across Europe to discuss the Bluesky & AT Protocol ecosystem, helping shape apps, tools, infrastructure, use-cases, and campaigns that earn trust from users, organizations, and policymakers.
- PLF+PLAID is happening in Bergen, Norway from Mon 30 June to Fri 4 July 2025! The two workshops had significant overlap in their topics, and we aim at bringing together their communities of researchers and practitioners. Submissions suitable for either of the earlier workshops are well-suited for PLF+PLAID. If you’re interested, the submission deadline is April 20! More info on the event’s website.

NEW! 🎉 The Node corner
As promised at the beginning of this mailing, here is a little treat. From now on, we will give a DWeb Node the floor to share their activities, their plans, and their opportunities.
Without any further ado here’s an update from our friends in Vancouver…
Meet DWeb Vancouver!
DWeb Vancouver, aka DWebYVR, is ~2 years old now! Running monthly hack days and regularly posting on our Ghost blog is working well, we post monthly event announcements and event recaps with pictures. We recently got a local fiscal host and are considering a bulk order of meshtastic devices.
It’s spring, so we’re kicking off recurring potlucks in our friendly neighbourhood collaborative garden.
We’re exploring spots for DWebCamp Cascadia, including potential spaces we could return to and improve year over year. Interested in a boutique regional DWebCamp for the PNW? Complete our call for interest and volunteers here.
We have a channel in the DWeb Discord #dweb-vancouver, but mostly hang out in our cozy Signal chat! You can stay tuned to our events by subscribing to our calendar at lu.ma/dwebyvr.
