DWeb updates and events happening this week!
Weekly event sharing on DWeb’s social media
Last Monday we shared on social media the events planned for the upcoming days. We will continue to do so on a regular basis, so that at the beginning of every week you’ll know what’s going to happen!
We are happy to also include events that aren’t from DWeb nodes or partners. Our intention is to broadcast interesting opportunities that might be insightful for the community at large.
We’ll be on the lookout, but please send information our way if you know of anything noteworthy!
What is our identity?
Should we call ourselves a community or a network? What are the most and least effective features of our brand?
Our Creative Director Ira Nezhynska kindly put together a survey to get a sense of what and how we think about DWeb, in order to evaluate future choices and to potentially explore novel design avenues. Our ultimate purpose is to improve how we communicate what we do and who we are, while also attracting potential partners aligned with the DWeb principles.
Funding The Commons San Francisco
Last weekend, senior DWeb Organizer Wendy Hanamura joined Aya Miyaguchi in a conversation at Funding The Commons San Francisco, held at the Internet Archive. In case you missed it, it was recorded and we’ll be sharing the video soon!

COMMUNITY NEWS, UPDATES AND OPPORTUNITIES
- Desarqiuivo is being restored! With the Filecoin Foundation for the Decentralized Web-supported Resilience Grant, Distributed Press aims to raise awareness about the fragility of digital resources in centralized infrastructures, and present alternatives on decentralized, resilient web foundations such as peer-to-peer protocols. Desarquivo is an extensive digital archive documenting feminist, anarchist, and anti-racist activism in Brazil since 2011. Imotirõ, the collective behind it, applied and was selected. By leveraging decentralized technologies and the use of static-sites, Distributed Press recovered and distributed the website Desarquivo, safeguarding it from digital obsolescence, and preserving its historical and cultural records for future generations. The new, more resilient infrastructure enables the archive to thrive without being constrained by outdated software or limited server capacity. Read more here!
