DWeb Meetup Bay Area—Talk, Demo & Dinner for the Decentralized Web
Bay Area DWeb Friends,
With Thanksgiving behind you, it will be time to come meet, learn, and share technology that aligns with our values of decentration, autonomy, and allowing people to control their own data.
So join us for a DWeb Meetup Bay Area— Talk, Demo, & Dinner for the Decentralized Web on Tuesday, December 3, 5:30 - 9pm PST at the Internet Archive, 300 Funston Avenue, San Francisco.
It’s a potluck, so bring something to share! We’ll hear from Mozilla researcher Justine Tunney (Justine.lol) on a topic near and dear to our hearts: preserving your LLMs using llamafiles. Writes Justine: "My projects like Actually Portable Executable overcome artificial restrictions that create toil for developers, and they empower open source devs to reach a broader audience. I believe in elevating the quality of software through world class engineering, and most importantly, making that accessible to every member of our society." And Gabe Kangas, founder of Owncast.online will demo his alternative to Twitch, a self-hosted, open source, decentralized livestreaming that integrates with current broadcast platforms. Gabe says Owncast is a good alternative if you don't want to rely on the large companies or want the ability to build something completely custom. Owncast allows you to offer a live streaming experience free from tracking, invasive analytics or advertising.
