DWeb Boston—Best of DWeb Camp Meetup
The DWeb Boston Node is hosting a meetup this Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. If you're in the area, gather with the node to share highlights, learnings, and experiences from DWeb Camp 2023.
The node was started to help bring the Boston community into the global effort of helping the Web reach its full potential. This node is driven by Boston’s local community of developers, designers, information architects, activists, policymakers and journalists toward a global goal—building the Web we want and deserve.
WHEN: Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM WHERE: Newton, MA
RSVP on Meetup for more information. Last Chance to fill out the DWeb Camp Survey: We’d love to hear about your DWeb Camp experience. We read every response and try to make the experience even better next year. Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey here.

Technology, community, and sharing are coming together in September at DWeb Camp Brazil! This is the first DWeb Camp happening outside of California. It is hosted by Neos, a space dedicated to activities around biodiversity, permaculture, and self-knowledge. The camp will be next to a natural preserve at the Ubatuba municipality, in the lush beaches of the Brazilian coast, between the major cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
DWeb+Coolab Camp was born out of the collaboration between DWeb and Coolab, both organizations dedicated to creating a more open, accessible, uncensored Internet controlled by the own users. DWeb Camp Brazil seeks to facilitate changes that go beyond technology, welcoming not only hackers, developers, and makers, but also philosophers, policymakers, activists—people trying to tinker with society in different ways.
Come celebrate and discuss the future of the decentralized web with likeminded builders at an event that brings together the camp experiences from Coolab and DWeb.
Jumpstarting DWeb Nodes
During DWeb Camp, we facilitated an activity to enable campers to find each other in the cities and regions where they’re based. We had around 13 active DWeb Nodes, but on that day, several more groups came together, enthusiastic to start a local Node!
We’re working on reconfiguring the Node network – namely, to figure out how we support each other to cultivate local activities and gatherings. In the meantime, we encourage you to host local events where you are, especially if you gathered the contacts of those who live in your area.
If you’d like to make things more formal and start a local DWeb Node, please email us at dweb@archive.org! You can be a city or region, as long as you have partners to help out with organizing. Here’s more information about what it takes to start a Node: https://getdweb.net/start-a-dweb-node/. Questions?
