MEET UP - June 7: DWeb Camp Projects & Presentations
Come to the DWeb SF June Meetup -- in-person at the Internet Archive in San Francisco, Wednesday, June 7th at 5pm PT, where you'll have a chance to try the P2P tools and mesh network that will be supporting DWeb Camp 2023 (June 21-25).
Join us as Art Brock, Systems Architect & co-founder of Holochain, shares Holo's new project, Emergence, a local-first, P2P app built especially for our Camp! Emergence allows you to discover, tag, share notes and media about the sessions you attend. Then when we journey to TOMORROW, a full day of emergent sessions, the app allows campers to easily propose and schedule sessions online. Even when there is no central servers or internet!
And what about situations where the Internet is spotty or non-existent? (AKA--much of the world.) Come learn from two leaders in Community Networks, Esther Jang and Cody Harris, of the Seattle Community Network. They are leading the team that's building a robust community network for our eight acre campsite. Come learn about mesh networks, and other ways offline communities can access the Internet.
Update on Proposals and Sessions
Thank you to everyone who submitted a proposal to share your ideas at DWeb Camp. We received a record number of session proposals this year and have been sorting through them. Over the course of the next week, we will send updates on the status of proposals. There will be room for any sessions we are unable to schedule on Saturday, “Tomorrow” Day as an emergent session.
