LazyVim for Ambitious Developers: GitHub Integration
Hey all,
It’s been a while since I’ve written an update for the book, so I wanted to send something out for the new year even though this particular change is quite small and long overdue.
I recently added a short section on using the Snacks gh integration to manage GitHub issues and pull requests and to do code review. You can review it quickly here: https://lazyvim-ambitious-devs.phillips.codes/course/chapter-15/#_interacting_with_github
I haven’t personally been using the extension because it’s a bit slow (due to depending on the GitHub API). However, after writing this section and realizing how elegant the review process is, I decided to give it a better trial going forward. After all, the GitHub UI is also extremely slow!
I have managed to free up a bit of time, so I’m hoping to make further progress on updating the book. My top priority right now is rewriting the AI chapter. As I predicted when I wrote it, it is now completely out of date and most of the plugins and extras that were available at that time are no longer relevant.
A second edition of the print book is still on my mind, but it won’t contain anything that hasn’t already been pushed to the ebook and website.
If you want to see this stuff come a bit faster, please consider sponsoring me on GitHub or Patreon. I don’t foresee my contributions going high enough to change my life (i.e. quit my day job), but knowing people value the work enough to invest in it does motivate me to prioritize it.
Happy coding everyone,
Dusty Phillips
