LazyVim for Ambitious Developers: First Proof
The bulk of the past couple weeks has been waiting for mail to be delivered. This finally arrived yesterday:

Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the cover quality and glad I decided to get a hardcover. The interior needs a little tweaking, though. The footer on each page was cut off a bit:

I also felt the other margins were just a little too tight to be aesthetically pleasing. Increasing those added 20 pages to the book and Jen had to redo the cover to match the larger size.
Finally, I wasn’t too enthusiastic about the quality of the screenshots. Book Vault (the POD printer I settled on) has the option to print your book on inkjet or laserjet printers. It’s around $4 USD more to print on laserjet and they recommend doing the first printing on inkjet. I was pretty sure the large single-colour screenshots wouldn’t render too well on inkjet. If that had been the only problem I could have switched printers without ordering a new proof. But since I’ve also added pages and changed margins, I don’t trust the online previewer to tell me everything I need to know, so I’m afraid there will be another wait-for-it-to-print-and-mail round.
However, I know folks are eager to have this in their hands. I’ve made enough from ebook sales to cover expedited printing and shipping for the second proof, so we won’t have to wait quite as long this time.
To those that bought the ebook: Thank you so much, and also for the lovely reviews some of you have left on PayHip. It means a lot to me that people are willing to pay for content I have made freely available.
