LazyVim For Ambitious Developers: Chapter 15 Released
Hi everyone,
I just posted Chapter 15, which is titled Source Control, although it’s mostly focused on git. It’s a fairly long chapter because LazyVim provides multiple ways to manage your git files and history. I expect you won’t need all of them and will gravitate towards some sections more than others. But each reader is going to prefer different sections, so I had to cover them all!
I put in 5 straight 10 hour days migrating the book to Asciidoc and doing an intensive editing pass. I consider myself awful at graphic design, so I’m a bit stunned at how great the book looks and can’t wait to have a print copy in my hands (and in yours!). You can preview the PDF on my Patreon.
I’m still working on migrating the website to use the new source of truth. The converter is outputting everything just fine, but the theme doesn’t match the aesthetic and I need to figure out how to link out to the non-book pages from inside the book. Hoping to wrap that up this week.
In LazyVim news, Folke decided to swap out the Spectre plugin for Grug-far for an improved project-wide search and replace experience. I had to rewrite a section of Chapter 13 to reflect these changes. Because I’m in the middle of a multiple-sources-of-truth scenario, this update hasn’t made it to the public site yet, but I’m working on it! Luckily, Grug-far is fairly self-documenting, so hopefully you won’t feel you are missing much.
I’m hoping to put the ebook (.pdf and .epub formats) up for sale sometime in August, with the print book to follow as quickly as I can manage.
