A few things I’m thankful for this year: * Great friends and family who support me and encourage me * Clients who are a pleasure to work with and for to achieve success * Incredible technology that enables me to work whenever and wherever I want, and to connect to people like never before * Web services that simplify and automate my business and my life * Digital music – Sampling, sharing, learning, and buying has never been easier. + Especially Electric Worry by Clutch * WordPress – I blog with it. I create with it. I build with it. It’s become essential. * Freedom * Challenges * Live music – I’ve been to more concerts in the last three months than in the last five years combined, and love it. * Causes – Helping the L3 Foundation has been an amazing experience. The Knight Cancer Challenge is almost at 100% funding. Kiva, Small Can Be Big. And so many others. * Rugby * My adult co-ed rec league soccer team and league * Shiner Bock * Whiskeys named by years – 1792, 1835… * Motorcycles * Travel
I’ve forgotten a few things, but you get the point. We all have a lot to be thankful for. Embrace it.
Cheers.

Shovels and Rope Nov 26, 2014 10:57 am | Brian Dusablon
Halloween night, while most folks were taking kids out trick or treating, or handing out candy to said trick or treaters, I stole away for a little concert at Fitzgerald’s. My only regret is that nobody joined me – my extra ticket went unused – because this was an outstanding show.
Willy Watson led off the evening with some funky, twangy folk music, mixing banjo and guitar with a little harmonica and some serious vocals. The dude can sing.
Shovels and Rope came out looking like they were coming off the set of Beetlejuice, and slowly “came alive” as the evening progressed, mostly because they were rocking so hard they sweated the makeup right off. These two are amazing. Totally in sync with each other and completely interchangeable on instruments, which I always find to be an extra level of awesome.

Thanks to Judy and Al for the recommendation. Fitzgerald’s is a nice, small venue that serves good beer. I’ll be back. And, if you see S&R in your town, check them out. They’re talented and entertaining.
