The weather’s warming up (unless it decides to randomly snow again), the robins are running around, baseball is baseballing, and we’re casting on our t-shirts and crop tops! There’s a lot to cover in this email, so let’s get into it:

Andersonville’s annual Insidewalk Sale is this weekend! From Friday, March 27 through Sunday, March 29, we’ll be offering 20% off all books and kits, and dozens of other stores around the neighborhood are offering great deals too! It’s a perfect day to walk up and down Clark St if the weather is nice, and if it isn’t, the good news is that it’s an insidewalk sale.
We’ve also just thrown some brand new knitting classes on our calendar in May and June:
Knit the Clay Tee (Thursday evenings, May 14, May 21, June 4, and June 11): summer knits are a thing! this light, drapey t-shirt pattern from Ozetta is a great way to play with some of our cotton and silk fibers. This four-session class will guide you through the process from yarn selection to finishing touches.
Knitting 101 (Sunday mornings, May 31, June 7, and June 14): learn to knit from our fabulous instructor Maggie! We also still have some room available in our May sessions (Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings).
Knit Your First Sock, DK weight edition (Tuesday evenings, June 2, 9, and 16): DK weight yarn is thicker than traditional sock yarn, so this is a great choice if you’ve been interested in sock knitting but wary of teeny-tiny needles and stitches. You’ll learn the exact same construction techniques in a project that works up much quicker!
Right now the store is about as full as it’s ever been, with fresh restocks of silk and cotton yarns from Knitting for Olive, Malabrigo, and more! We’ve got lots of new colors of KFO’s Pure Silk and Cotton Merino, Malabrigo Susurro and Verano ready for your spring and summer projects.

Loren J is an accomplished sewist and designer, with her designs appearing on RuPaul’s Drag Race and elsewhere. She’s also a knitter and a staff member at The Dropped Stitch! She’s been on the lookout for a really great bag for carrying projects around, and eventually she decided to make one herself. After months of choosing fabrics and materials, prototyping, sewing, stamping, and road-testing, the Dropped Stitch Crafter’s Bag is ready for showtime. Featuring:
Drawstring main enclosure (no zipper snagging your yarn)
Removable shoulder strap
One large magnet-snap external pocket, five external sleeves, three internal pouches, and one internal zipped compartment
Small enough to qualify as an in-flight “personal item” but spacious enough for an almost-finished sweater
You’ll look so cool
Everyone will ask you where you got it
Price: $150.00
These are made one at a time, so quantities are extremely limited - if you’d like to get on the list to buy one, please just reply to this email. First come, first serve!
