Our 1 year anniversary party!!
Just a year ago, I was in the final stages of juggling a totally baffling checklist of furniture, city permits, vendors, advertising, graphics, websites, inventory, point of sale, accounting, banking, hiring, shelving, signage, insurance, and about 5,000 other things that it turns out need to happen before you can open a retail business. I had never done something like this before, and I had absolutely no reason to believe that any of it would work or that anyone would show up - just a hunch that if I wanted a yarn store in the neighborhood, probably some other people did too.
Luckily, I was right! You turned up by the hundreds (literally!) on a chilly Wednesday in November, and bought so much yarn that our winder was busted and our shelves were half empty at the end of first day. Since then, it’s been a blast as we’ve expanded our inventory, offered amazing classes and craft nights, ran our first Yarn Crawl, experienced our first random ceiling collapse, and brought on Loren, Oonagh, Mel (who drew all the bunnies on that flyer!), and Cesca as fellow yarnsellers.
Thank you so, so, so so so much to everyone in Andersonville, Uptown, Edgewater, Rogers Park, every single other neighborhood in this amazing city, the suburbs, and beyond, for your patronage, stories, questions, suggestions, ideas, and knitting needle emergencies, and for keeping my silly little yarn shop alive during one of the weirdest years of all time. We truly wouldn't have been able to do this without you.
