Slumber App - Update #4
Hi all!
If you’re reading this, you signed up at some point for information about Slumber. In case you forgot: Slumber is an app that provides drug-free insomnia treatment on your phone.
Prototype results
The first test run with the (frighteningly hacky) v1 prototype has finished! Sample size was only 2, since it took a lot of manual effort for each user (again, Frankenstein prototype). One user stopped using the prototype due to some recurring bugs in the Coda platform that made login difficult. Before they stopped, their sleep efficiency went from 55% to 86% with treatment. Likewise, the user who completed the full course of treatment started at 60% sleep efficiency and is now averaging around 93%. Translated: That means 93% of the time they’re in bed is spent sleeping, well within normal limits and free from insomnia.
Path forward
Given this tentative initial proof of efficacy, I’m diving into developing prototype v2! This one will be built in React Native and will be a significantly smoother experience compared to the unholy monstrosity of yesteryear. Based on my pessimistic timeline, it’ll take me somewhere between 3 and 6 months to develop the app to be revenue-ready. Most of that time will be adding & configuring the automatic custom treatment content. I’ll be able to accept users for this version before development is 100% completed, and will bring a few early people on to keep me talking to users.
If you’d like way too much detail on my development plan & where I got my estimates, you can see that here: https://roamresearch.com/#/app/sams/page/o3xRzThex
I’ll send updates less than once per month, with exceptions only if big news happens. Reply here with any questions you have in the meantime.
Yours in sleep,
