Dover Shores News - Galaxy slope subsidence
Important Notice for Dover Shores Residents
The slope under the house at 1930 Galaxy gave way this morning. Fortunately nobody was injured. NBFD has been on the scene. The house at 1930 has been red-tagged (non-inhabitable) and the houses from 1924 Galaxy to 1936 Galaxy have been yellow-tagged. The yellow tags are expected to be removed from nearby houses once they have been verified to be safe.
This event reminds us that everyone should inspect their slopes after heavy rains and take remedial action if you see any evidence of subsidence. Be careful - the slopes are still wet and slippery. If you see something suspicious but are not sure, you should contact the Newport Beach Fire Department at 949-644-3355 and ask them to check it out or contact the NBPD non-emergency line at 949-644-3717 and they can direct you to the proper department.
Note that the slopes beneath most homes on Galaxy are state land under the control of California Fish and Game. They are not the responsibility of the Dover Shores HOA.
