Dover Shores News, August 1, 2020
Here is the latest update from the Dover Shores HOA Board about what is going on in our community.
DOVER SHORES HOA GENERAL MEETING:
- The Dover Shores Board of Directors met via Zoom on July 21 followed by our general meeting, which, as always, was open to homeowners. We welcome more homeowners to attend our next meeting and bring any concerns or comments to our attention during the Homeowners Forum. This is your community so please participate.
- As a way to increase that participation, the Board will be creating Committee Charters to clarify for volunteers
what each Committee does, the roles and responsibilities of committee volunteers, and what authority each
Committee has over neighborhood issues. In other words – how you can best help make a difference in this community.
Hopefully, this will encourage more of our residents to volunteer to sit on one of our Dover Shores Committees. Our goal is to have these Committee Charters ready for the coming year so residents will better know on which Committee they might like to volunteer. Our Dover Shores’ Committees and current volunteers on each Committee are listed on the bottom of this newsletter.
For more on the July 21 HOA meeting, please see report from BHE Management below.
A MESSAGE FROM BHE MANAGEMENT CORPORATION:
Hello Dover Shores Owners!
- At the July meeting, the Board approved the final audit for the previous fiscal year, which will be sent out shortly. It is suggested this be retained in your permanent property files, especially if you expect to sell or refinance your home this year!
- All owners also should have received by mail a Call for Candidates for this year’s election. This year, there is one Board Seat up for election. If you did not receive an application to run for a Board seat this year, please let us know. Unfortunately, we are likely to hold a virtual Annual Meeting this year due to restrictions on gatherings, but will still need you to return your ballots when they are mailed out in September!
- As noted above, your current Committees are also starting to work on Committee Charters to help organize and clarify duties and goals. Might YOU be interested in serving on a committee? Please let Management or Board members know if you have an interest in volunteering, or a talent that you would like to share with the community!
- Finally, we would like to encourage you to contact Management with any landscaping needs, architectural questions, or any other of your association needs – we are here to serve you and look forward the opportunity!
Sincerely,
BHE Management Corporation www.BHEManagement.com

BEACH NEWS:
- FISHERMAN’S BEACH: Just One More Reminder:
IMPORTANT NOTICE: ANY DOVER SHORES RESIDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY STORING BOATS AT FISHERMANS BEACH WHO HAVE NOT PAID THEIR ANNUAL FEES FOR THE YEAR 2020 MUST REGISTER THEIR BOATS IMMEDIATELY OR REMOVE THEM.
ANY BOATS NOT REGISTERED BY AUGUST 31, 2020 WILL BE CONSIDERED ABANDONED AND SHALL BE REMOVED AT THE OWNER’S EXPENSE. TO ENSURE YOUR BOAT IS PROPERLY REGISTERED, PLEASE CONTACT BHE MANAGEMENT CORPORATION AT 949-363-1963.
Also, if you know anyone who is NOT a Dover Shores Resident who is storing a boat or board at Fisherman’s Beach, please let them know they are subject to the same notice above. All unregistered boats will be removed August 31, 2020.
- BEACH POLICIES: Our Covid-19 Beach Usage Policies remain in place. They are posted on the gates of Larry’s Beach and North Star Beach. Please be considerate of your neighbors by following these policies. And again, due to the current COVID pandemic we are sorry but no Tuesday Night Beach barbeques will be taking place this summer. And unfortunately, that also means we will not be having our End of Summer Fiesta this year. We have all missed our summer get-togethers this year, and look forward to starting up again next summer.
- ONE MORE BEACH REMINDER from HOA PRESIDENT TONY KHOURY:
As we all appreciate, our Dover Shores Beaches are for Dover Shores Residents and their guests only. Because of the current health situation and our need to socially distance, temporarily we have had to limit the number of persons using the beaches at any one time. To accomplish that goal and allow for more residents to safely enjoy our beaches, our Covid-19 Beach Policies include the requirement that residents using the beach show ID to the lifeguard verifying they are Dover Shores residents, and limit the number of persons coming in with them to 5 people. Sounds reasonable, particularly as non-residents at times have been crowding our beaches.
However, lately, there have been arguments from some homeowners who have objected to showing identification verifying they reside in the community. Please note the lifeguards are just following the rules when they ask for ID. The Board Posted Rules need to be followed, and the lifeguards have the sole authority and responsibility for implementing them.
So kindly, bring your ID with you when you come to the Beach, and if your nanny comes with the kids, she needs to show a copy of your ID.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Please Stay Safe Dover Shores!
CERT – NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH UPDATES:
Slow down – lives depend on it. Many have you have seen the Slow Down for Children signs in our neighborhood. On July 1, 15-year-old Johnny Van Der Ahe was killed while riding a skateboard around 8:15 PM near the corner of Commodore and Skylark by an Irvine resident who was arrested on suspicion of DUI. All of us has seen more activity in the streets since the start of the pandemic. Many of us are frustrated, angry and impatient by these turbulent times but a car is no place to vent your frustrations. A little extra courtesy while driving and in everyday life will help us make it through this. Note also that tragic accidents often result from a combination of factors. Please make sure everyone in your family is using our streets safely. There is a change.org petition about speeding in Dover Shores.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS: NEXT DOVER SHORES HOA MEETING: SEPTEMBER 15, 2020
Details on location or how to join a Zoom meeting will follow when we are closer to the date.
Please let your neighbors know how to contact us at board@dovershoreshoa.org if they are not part of our email list and would like to join. Or please forward this email to them. Our goal is to reach every Dover Shores neighbor.
