A literal banger
Dispatches from the Imperfection Lab
Continuing the theme of relearning things I’ve already played, this week I took Prokofiev’s Suggestion Diabolique out of the vault and started relearning it. It is astonishing how fun it is to play.
It’s one of those pieces that you have no choice but to get carried away with, and that is shockingly easy to get swept up in even if you don’t fully have all the notes in your fingers, as I do here:
God, it’s so fun. It’s also so easy for it to be a mess, but even when it’s a mess, it’s so fun. Did I mention how fun this piece was?? (I haven’t even gotten to the glissandos yet!)
I haven’t worked on this piece in over a decade (!!!) but it’s such a banger. Literally. I am hitting the keys in a way I haven’t gotten to do in ages.
