Week 23, 2024: Pineapple? Kryptonite
Hello internet friends,
That was quite a week - Monday to Wednesday were pretty much as always and on Thursday I drove back up to Cologne. On the way up I made a little detour at a snack factory sales store, which sadly also didn't have the kind of potato chips that my coworker talked about but OH WELL.
And when I got to the office I realized that it finally (😒) happened: I packed everything for three days except my computer. Congratulations, Mr Schwind. Well done. Luckily there was a computer sitting around unused that I could work on, so the two days weren't completely pointless.
Switching to a new computer without having the old one around made me realize just how much things are just in the cloud these days and can be accessed and set up pretty easily. Plus the system we use for our local development is rather neat. After having installed PHPStorm and Docker, it took one git pull and I was able to get started on my work, that was quite good.
But the real reason why I went to Cologne wasn't work this time - I came to watch Atarashii Gakko! who played a concert of their world tour on Friday evening. Alex and Teymur were nice enough to accompany me.
And what can I say? After having watched a couple of their previous life sets online I already had quite high expectations, but being there and watching them perform in person is quite something else. Highly recommended - and I know for sure that I'll try to get tickets again when they're somewhere nearby.
Their showmanship and charisma worked really well in the comparatively small venue and I guess the next time they'll play something bigger - in their home country they're already at the point were they fill stadiums and the tickets here were sold out pretty fast as well.
The remaining weekend so far was nice as well - a good breakfast in summer-like conditions, a pretty calm drive home, (no summer-like conditions here, though. Gopferdemmi) and today I've been a good citizen and voted and now I am here.
