On goals.
New Year's resolutions? Well, New Year can keep them.
goal. noun : a post that has not yet been moved.
What if goals weren’t punishments devised by your endlessly inventive brain to taunt you for not having achieved them already?
goal. noun : the embers of last year’s ambition glowing in the pit of yourself, resentful, refusing to burn out no matter how many times you throw a bucket of cold water on them and covering them in a thick layer of flame retardant foam doesn’t seem to have worked either.
You might be down, but are you out? Buy a barcode scanner. Throw a notebook onto the crowded tabletop. Make room. There is more room in here. Even if the walls won’t push out any further, there is always up. Escher your books with a wave of your mind and make a door.
goal. noun. : the top of the next mountain.
Shove the notebook in your pocket. Write down what you see. A journey does not need to be a destination. Your troubles are a ring heavy in your pocket, and those embers in you will be a volcano before long, just wait. Time for the good boots.
goal. noun : climb.
