Storybook and Svelte
Welcome to another edition of this newsletter. I’m Daniel Imfeld, and here I share things I’ve read recently, updates on what I’ve been working on, and occasionally nascent blog post drafts.
This will be a short issue since I’ve mostly been busy with some big things at work that I’m excited about, but can’t mention quite yet.
What I’m Working On
I spent time over the weekend trying to get SvelteKit working with Storybook, and after a few false starts and a bunch of workarounds, I ended up with a nice setup that works well.
In the future I think the process will be much easier, but I wrote a guide to making it work.

All the workarounds in one place
Related to the Storybook setup, I’ve been working more on Ergo’s web interface, and have come up with a simple read-only dashboard that shows the event timeline and a list of tasks. Much more to come but this sets up a nice base to build on, and I’m getting close to being able to experiment with different ways of defining and compiling workflows.
It needs some cleanup, but here’s the first version of the dashboard. Still lots of Tailwind UI placeholders there too :)
Reading
This essay from Hillel Wayne is about programming in one sense, but also about the difficulty that goes into creating a proper meta-study, where each of the source papers may use different definitions and criteria.
I ****ing hate Science
I’m a big advocate of Empirical Software Engineering. I wrote a talk on it. I wrote a 6000-word post covering one controversy. I spend a lot of time reading…
That’s it for today! If you enjoyed this, I’d love if you share it with a friend (sign up here) or just reply to this email with your thoughts. Thanks for reading!
