UAB Lost To ODU??
The Blazers were ranked highest in Kenpoms ratings up until this weekend, when they dropped a road game to Old Dominion. The Monarchs are not particularly good this season, but given the coach and their five-year history it is reasonable to give them a little healthy respect even as we criticize their record.
This is CUSA, and losing on the road on Super Bowl Sunday is the kind of thing that happens to good teams. Still, this has repercussions for the UAB program health. We began this week thinking that UAB was going to maybe be the rare CUSA program that could earn an at-large or, upon winning the tournament, a fairly impressive seeding.
As it is, this hurts the ol' resume a bit, and makes the upcoming home games vs North Texas (Next Saturday the 19th) and Tech (March 5th) incredibly important.
The Blazers now have three conference losses and all are to teams with non-winning conference records. Rice (6-6), Marshall (2-10), and ODU (5-7) are a combined 13-23 in the league.
