How Good Is FAU?
Out on the twitter, I had casually mentioned the big NT-FAU game coming up on the 29th, and someone responded “FAU? They beat Florida. They aren’t any good”.
Well, that is true and yet not. FAU are relatively untested. Beating up on Northern Kentucky – even with some upsets happing in the CBB universe – is not going to get anyone super excited. FIU is un-good. A blowout win there, also doesn’t move any needles.
As we type this, FAU is 11-1, 1-0 in conference and posts a Kenpom Adjusted efficiency of +15.17, best in the league. They’ve competed well in their two tests (L to MSST, and W over UF) and have taken care of business the rest of the way. They blow out the bad teams, and win by double-digit over the mediocre squads.
North Texas represents an opportunity to exercise a demon. Last year after a 4-game win streak, FAU lost to Western on the road, and a heart breaker vs North Texas at home in which they missed three go-ahead bucket attempts in the final minutes.
