Grab Bag of Thoughts
It has been busy at CR HQ. In preparation of the conference start, we've been watching a lot of basketball. Some things that stand out thus far?
Well, Middle is lengthy and will be a problem if you cannot break a press or are sloppy on passes. FAU is good, and I've caught a couple of games but haven't studied them in earnest. They remind me of a Rocky villain: just stomping on teams and making a little name for themselves.
UAB gave WVU a little run before petering out, but they looked good early. They are physical and can score and defend. North Texas looks better and better as they incorporate their new pieces in the system that McCasland has built. We will learn a lot about these teams once league play starts but we have not been surprised by much.
Meanwhile, Bowl Season is about to start and champion UTSA is going for their first bowl win in history. UAB will take on Miami (OH)l, North Texas will play in a bowl with an interim coach, and Rice will give us a little 2021 nostalgia as they take on Southern Miss.
