I’ve been sick with the flu all week and missed all my classes, and missing class is really anxiety-producing. Why is that? Because many grad school professors have a “no tolerance” attendance policy. I get it, 90% of grad school is showing up and giving a shit. But this mindset is also ableist and kinda bullshit. People get sick. People’s kids get sick. Other shit happens. This is yet another barrier to graduate school for people who do not fit the mold.

Also, a deep, dark confession: I fear that I’m not going to ever find a dissertation topic because I’m actually interesting in nothing.
