I don't like fun or whimsy.

A list of things I don’t do:

  1. karaoke

  2. bowling

  3. amusement parks

  4. bars, especially at night, when crowded

  5. hiking

  6. Anything animated (except for cartoons for adults)

  7. Fantasy shows/films/anything with dragons or elves

and about a hundred more things. This list has only increased, and it could be from some sort of late onset paranoia or agoraphobia, or facing the fact that I am NOT FUN.

But…fun is a social construct.

However, I will be leaving for a three-night cruise tomorrow. And I love cruises! Is that on brand for me or very surprising? No, I don’t love them ironically. I love them because I am a lazy traveler. And I love postmodern constructed realities and as anthropological study. Yes, I’ve read David Foster Wallace’s “Shipping Out” essay.

Also, I’m suddenly obsesses with the discrediting of the Stanford Prison Experiment, so I’ll be on the deck reading those articles and books.

May I also recommend Andrea Long Chu’s Females, which is very short and funny and poignant and smart.

When I get back, I swear I am going to edit the hours and hours of audio footage I have into several podcast episodes.
