A quantitative analysis of Melrose Place

I made this during a zoom meeting. Sorry it is not peer reviewed. I’ve been plowing my way through Melrose Place and mark my words: I will write a book about this show.

The purple dotted line is romantic relationships. This group definitely acts like there are literally no options in L.A. That’s pretty on par for a soap. The winners? Michael Mancini and Jake Hanson. Are you surprised?

The red line is for the characters that attempted to murder another character. Notice some of these also align with the purple dots. The whole show is predicated on the constant threat of murder.

Yes, I know that Jake and Alison eventually get married. [FFs Jake, it’s not a bingo card!] but I haven’t even gotten to that season yet.

The green line is the most insane. These show characters that went into business/started working with each other. No, it’s not just established that they were coworkers, but after the show began they just kept hiring each other at their jobs. At one point, Amanda, Alison, Billy, Brook and Jo all worked at D&D advertising. While all the sex and murder was happening. Oh need a job? Just come work at the bar, Shooters. Jake owns it. Need to start a design firm? Jake has the space to do it.

Denim on demin and barefoot? Okay.
