quick note about Facebook Live

We’re crossing into June, which means the date Facebook has set to delete all Live Video streams older than 30 days is upon us.

In case you missed their announcement earlier this year:

In the Old Testament, leaders built monuments to memorialize what God had done in different seasons. I’m reminded of Genesis 28:18, after Jacob’s “ladder” encounter: “The next morning Jacob got up very early. He took the stone he had rested his head against, and he set it upright as a memorial pillar. Then he poured olive oil over it.”

In 2020, we didn’t build pillars of stone, but we memorialized that season with streaming live videos.

I don't know about you, but during Covid, while we were figuring out this online church thing, the church I was on staff at WORE OUT Facebook Live, in a good way…and I hate to think that all those videos are going away.

The good news is, Facebook has made it REALLY EASY to bulk download the content.

The link above has some great material on how to do it, and if you get stuck, my team at DigitalChurch.co is here to help.

I recommend storing the videos on YouTube or another online archive after you download them.

Hope this helps!

P.S. My team is currently writing Volume 2 of the Digital Church Field Guide- an updated strategy on digital discipleship and online church. Do you have anything you want covered? Any particular challenges or questions about websites, social media, photography, or the like? We’d love your feedback, just reply here so we know we address the right material.
